This book has different stories like Little Red Riding Odie and Garfield and the Beanstalk. Garfield is the character in all of them and there are five different stories.

I liked this story because Garfield acts funny in most of them. I recommend this book to people who like Garfield.

Title:
The Cabin Faced West
Author:
Fritz, Jean
Genre:

Fiction

Summary:
Ann Hamilton is a young girl who has just moved from the comforts of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to the wild frontier with her family. The story follows the life of a real girl who had to survive and endure the hardships of being a pioneer. Building a new home in the unsettled land is difficult, but the worst part is having no one her age to talk to or other girls to play with. This story follows Ann as she grows to like her new home and appreciate the family and the friends she does have.
SCCS Review:
Even though life was hard Ann found things to make her happy. I like knowing that she was a real person who lived 200 years ago.

Title:
A Step From Heaven
Author:
An Na
Genre:
Young Adult Fiction
Summary:
In this poignant book about a young Korean immigrant, An Na shows us the universal difficulties in acculturating to a new country. The protagonist, Young Ju, is challenged with fitting in and learning English while her family is confronted with complexities both internal and external. The realistic story captures the contemporary struggle for many immigrant families.
SCCS Review:
Before I read this book I knew very little about Korean-Americans and their experience in coming to the United States. Now I feel like I understand a little more about their challenges, as well as the path of immigrants in general. I would recommend this book to anyone who might face cross cultural issues.
