SCCS is Proud to Introduce the New Library Media Center

The new SCCS Library Media Center (LMC) is ready for action!

The newly constructed building houses a Library with over 15,000 books, 28 computers for student use, and a 620 sq. m. Jaguar Plaza for SCCS events. Inaugurated on August 14, 2006, the 1,200 sq. m. building houses a library complete with modern technological amenities, a Media Center for online research and independent study, and the beautiful Jaguar Plaza for school assemblies, student rallies, alumni and other SCCS events.

Variety of Resources and Tools
In addition to over 15,000 books on catalog in the library, SCCS students can take advantage of the 12 new computers in the library and the 16 new computers in the Media Center Computer Lab for typing papers and doing online research. This is in addition to 47 workstations in the Primary and Secondary Computer Labs and computers in each classroom.

Special Reading Room
The LMC also includes a special Reading Room for elementary students who have a weekly scheduled visit to the LMC. Elementary students are beginning to learn how to use library resources and develop a love for reading. The Reading Room allows older students to continue to use the library while the librarian conducts classes with younger students during their scheduled library time.

Great Hours
The SCCS Library Media Center is open Monday and Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 to 4:30, and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade have one scheduled visit to the LMC weekly and may visit during recess or free time. Middle and High School students are welcome in the LMC with a pass from a teacher, as a part of a scheduled class, or during free times. All students are welcome to visit the LMC before school, after school and during recesses. Parents are welcome at any time and may check out materials for family use.
