Elementary Topic for March: Perseverance and Determination
Reminder: There will be a ERB WRaP (Writing Prompt) on Mar. 23 and 24.
Reminder: There will be a Professional Half Day- Fri., Mar. 12. Due to the reduced schedule. students will be released early at 11:30 a.m.

Reminder: It is your responsibility to check Edline for updates and assignments
Library Lunch: The library will be closed during lunch time.
Classroom Without Walls: Students need to share the info with their parents and remind them about the deadline for payment, March 5, 2010.
SAT: Students signed up for the SAT prep class will begin classes Sat. Feb. 27th, and continue on March 6th, 13th, 20th, and again on April 17th. Math classes run from 9-11 in room 25 while critical reading/writing classes run from 11:15-1:15 in room 25. Please see Mr. Vande Loo for further details.
Big Savings :The University of South Florida is still accepting applications and has great scholarships for students in Bolivia. If awarded a scholarship, students can be classified as a Florida resident for tuition purposes! This is a savings of $40 thousand dollars over 4 years. Please see Mr. Vande Loo for more details.

SCCS Celebrates Creativity & Talent

Currently, the Elementary School is celebrating “Creativity and Individual Talent “during the month of February. Two big events are being planned to show our community how much talent we have here at SCCS! The first event, the Elementary Talent Show, will be held on February 23 at 7:00 PM in the elementary patio. Students in grades second through fifth auditioned for a spot in front of a panel of judges. Acts will include magic tricks, singing, dancing, miming, piano and guitar. Mrs. Silvia Toro is heading up the Talent Show this year, with the assistance of Mrs. Susan Zapata, Miss Rachel Jontz, Mrs. Maria Fernanda Quiroga and Miss Lorena Lavintman.

This year’s musical drama production will be “The Wizard of Oz” and will feature elementary school students. The opening night will be in late April or early May, but casting for the main parts took place in early February. Along with munchkins and monkeys, there will be a large cast of characters. Congratulations to the following students for being chosen to participate.
