  • Avi, a popular American writer, has written many books for children. He's written comedies, fantasies, mysteries and ghost stories. Read more about them on his web site and then come check out his books from the SCCS library!
  • Red Wall Abbey, is the official web site of British author, Brian Jacques, and was created by a 12-year-old! You can find stories, a bookshop, crosswords and more puzzles, a reader's club and more. Making a website might be something you want to do. If so, talk to your teacher about it.
  • How Stuff Works can tell you all kinds of stuff. Have you ever wondered how an airplane works? The website describes the process of modern flight. You can also find information about how a computer works and how a Star Wars light saber works!
  • Amazing Space is a great site if you're interested in outer space. Explore this site and find out what's happening in tonight's sky or see pictures taken from the Hubble Space Telescope.
  • Brainpop helps you learn about everything from math to social studies! Plus, the funny movies and quizzes are really cool. (You do not need to sign in to view this site.)
  • Art Kids has activities such as sketching, coloring, and tracing pictures. There are also some great tips on how to draw animals, faces, and machines.
  • Museum of Modern Art's Art Safari has all kinds of interesting stuff for students interested in art. You will see examples of art, sculptures, paintings, and learn how to see what the artist sees. Learn by looking!
  • The Exploratorium, a museum of science, art and human perception, uses a search tool to find amazing stuff, including a cool section on skateboarding. Or use the directory to explore.
  • Yahooligans is search engine especially for children and young adults. Use the directory to find sites on a wide variety of topics. It also includes jokes, polls, and other interesting facts and information.
  • The Virtual Middle School Library has a bunch of good information that you might find useful. Also, check out their Cool Sites list for fun things to do on the Internet.
  • SIKids (Sports Illustrated for Kids) has some great information and activities for sports fans! Play cool games, learn the latest news about your favorite sport or athlete, see cool action photos and more.
