  • Reminder: There will be a ERB WRaP (Writing Prompt) on Mar. 23 and 24.
  • Reminder: There will be a Professional Half Day- Fri., Mar. 12. Due to the reduced schedule. students will be released early at 11:30 a.m.
  • Fathers:  Mark down Friday, March 19, at 8:00 a.m. on your calendar.  There will be a presentation and informal breakfast to celebrate Father’s Day!
  • Reminder: March 23 is the End of the third quarter.
  • Reminder: There will be a Jaguar Showcaseon March 26.
  • FUN RUN Coming Soon: The SCCS Fun Run celebrates 20 years. Come support it this Sat. April 24th.

Secondary Announcements
  • Reminder: It is your responsibility to check Edline for updates and assignments
  • Library Lunch: The library will be closed during lunch time.
  • Classroom Without Walls: Students need to share the info with their parents and remind them about the deadline for payment, March 5, 2010.
  • SAT: Students signed up for the SAT prep class will continue classes Sat. March 20th and April 17th. Math classes run from 9-11 in room 25 while critical reading/writing classes run from 11:15-1:15 in room 25.  Please see Mr. Vande Loo for further details. 
  • Big Savings :The University of South Florida is still accepting applications and has great scholarships for students in Bolivia.  If awarded a scholarship, students can be classified as a Florida resident for tuition purposes!  This is a savings of $40 thousand dollars over 4 years.  Please see Mr. Vande Loo for more details.

NJHS Contest Raises Over 2,200 Bolivianos
The SCCS National Junior Honor Society held a Kiss the Pig contest on March 3, 2010 to raise money for the children at the Oncologico, a local cancer hospital.  Over 2,200 Bolivianos were cast as “votes” for the teachers that the students most wanted to see “kiss” the pig. 

The Middle School winners were a tie between Mr. Hudson Thurston and Mr. Kirk Dahlberg, while the lower elementary winner was Miss Jontz.  The “biggest” winner overall was Mr. Caid, upper elementary teacher, with 306 votes!  The money will be used to buy toys, games, and movies for the children who must be at the hospital for cancer treatments.
